Vote now for your cinch Player of the Month for February!

Voting for the cinch Player of the Month award for February is now open, with supporters able to choose the Saint they believe made the biggest contribution on the pitch throughout the month.

The competition will remain open until Tuesday 10 March, when the winning player will be announced by Northampton Saints and cinch.

Throughout the season, cinch are also offering up a range of prizes for those who vote for the award, with one lucky supporter each month selected at random after voting closes. For February, one lucky winner will receive a Saints ball signed by the winner of this month’s award!

After enjoying a bye round in the first week of February, Saints then completed a trio of victories in the PREM Rugby Cup – and sealed their place in the competition’s semi-finals for the first time since 2023.

Back-to-back away wins kept Saints’ winning form on the road – that has seen them lose just three games away from home this term – ticking over, as Northampton dispatched first Harlequins (24-40) and then Newcastle Red Bulls (21-49) in successive weeks.

And the men in Black, Green and Gold rounded off the month with a dramatic home victory over Saracens, that saw them come back from a 12-point deficit to score two tries in the game’s final five minutes before James Pater’s clutch conversion sealed the 35-33 win.

With those clashes in mind, Saints’ coaches have selected five nominees for the monthly award: Archie Benson, Luke Green, Jack Lewis, Archie McParland and Chunya Munga.

Benson came into his own in the back row for Northampton in February, starting against both Quins and Newcastle and featuring in a full 80 minutes in both clashes while making some 17 tackles across those matches. Benson also occupies the second spot across all the teams in the PRC for lineout steals, with some seven so far in the competition.

Likewise, prop Green enjoyed a busy month in Black, Green and Gold. He scored a try in Saints’ victory over Newcastle and played a starring role in Northampton’s scrum success across the month – where Saints maintained a 97% win rate at scrum time.

It has been hard to miss Saints’ newest debutant Jack Lewis in recent weeks. Still just 17 years old, the back rower has been an impressive feature in Saints’ Under-18s side for the last two seasons and stepped up to make his first-team debut against Quins. He marked his debut with a monster maiden carry before his first start (against Saracens) saw him make some 38 metres from 11 carries and secure three turnovers.

McParland began his February in some style, scoring a hat-trick of tries in a player-of-the-match performance against Quins before producing another stellar outing off the bench against Newcastle – making 129 metres across the two matches while beating some eight defenders.

Our final contender this month, Munga, captained Northampton throughout this Cup period, and led from the front as he made some 34 tackles across his three outings – before he rounded off February with a screamer of a solo try, running in to score from 30 metres out against Saracens.
