Voting for the cinch Player of the Month award for January is open, with supporters able to choose the Saint they believe made the biggest contribution on the pitch throughout the opening month of 2026.
The competition will remain open until Thursday 19 February, when the winning player will be announced by Northampton Saints and cinch.
Throughout the season, cinch are also offering up a range of prizes for those who vote for the award, with one lucky supporter each month selected at random after voting closes. For January, one lucky winner will receive a Saints ball signed by the winner of this month’s award!
Saints began 2026 with a resounding win at cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens, as they ran in ten tries against Harlequins 66-21 to cement their place at the top of the Gallagher PREM.
The side’s only loss in January came in Round 3 of the Investec Champions Cup when Northampton made the trip to reigning champions Union Bordeaux-Bégles in a replay of last season’s final. Despite the home side crossing the whitewash eight times, Northampton rallied in the game’s final quarter to secure a try bonus point with a late Danilo Fischetti score seeing the final scoreline to 50-28.
Back-to-back wins for Saints followed in the next two weeks, as Northampton despatched first Scarlets (43-28) in the final round of the Champions Cup pool stages and then Sale Sharks (29-43) as the Gallagher PREM returned for Round 10.
And Saints rounded off January in the same winning fashion, securing an impressive 40-22 victory over a seasoned Leicester Tigers side in the PREM Rugby Cup.
With those clashes in mind, Saints’ coaches have selected five nominees for the monthly award: Alex Coles, Tommy Freeman, Emmanuel Iyogun, Archie McParland and Edoardo Todaro.
Coles continued his impressive run of form throughout January, opening the month with a hat-trick against Quins before claiming another try up in Sale – while also making 100 metres from 38 carries and some 36 tackles.
Likewise, Freeman also enjoyed a try-scoring January as he crossed for scores against Harlequins, Bordeaux and Sale – making 234 metres across his four outings last month, with 144 of those coming against Quins alone.
Prop Iyogun earned his place in England’s Six Nations squad with an impressive January, featuring in three of Saints’ five clashes and impressing on both sides of the ball as he made 23 carries and 21 tackles.
At scrum-half, McParland’s form has also impressed throughout the month; he featured four times for Saints and made some 100 metres from 22 carries in those outings.
Our final nominee for January is winger Todaro, who’s prolific run of form saw him score six tries in four matches – including a hat-trick against Scarlets – while also having a whopping 382 metres to his name across those games.
