The 33-21 defeat of Leinster was the loose head’s first action in black, green and gold since scoring the winning try at Twickenham, but all thoughts are now on the start of a new season and maintaining his place in a competitive Saints squad.
“Competition was strong last year and it’s even stronger this year,” Waller told SaintsTV. “Everyone wants a piece of the pie.
“Obviously we had a successful season last year and we want to recreate that. The boys are pushing each other and all eyes are on us now, so we’re looking forward to it and everyone’s trying to take the opportunity to improve.
“The competition will push us on and it’ll be a successful squad hopefully.”
Tickets for the first league game of the season against the Cherry and Whites are available now and selling well.
