WANDIES 61 JETS 10 Wandies go six from six

The Wanderers cruised past their north-west rivals Sale Jets with a devastating nine try display at the Gardens to secure their sixth bonus point win in the Premiership Rugby A League this year.

The Wanderers began with an excellent defensive display after an early test from the Jets, who came within just metres of the try line, but Sale's efforts eventually paid off in the form of a penalty from Kieran Wilkinson.

The Wandies retaliated instantly, however, tearing through Sale's defence at break-neck pace to open with Tom Collins' first of four and Stephen Myler's first of nine conversions.

Sale struggled to break free from their own 22, going on to lose their own line out and open up space for Ken Pisi to sail down the wing for the score.

The Jets found their stride in the later stages of the first half, with a much improved defence managing to keep the Saints off their try line for a time but eventually Mitch Eadie barged over for the third home score of the night.

Sale had the final say in the first half, with their forwards clawing at the line only to eventually crack the Wanderers defence and gain their first try.

The Wanderers secured their bonus point in just the third minute of the second half, when James Fish touched down another well worked move to the wing by the Wandies' attack.

Tom Collins scored his second moments later in similar fashion, as the Wanderers began to run away with the score. That continued when Fish dotted down a second time from the maul before the hour mark was up.

Wanderers had a 32-point lead in hand, but that didn’t stop Tom Emery as Sale’s defence were left for dust as the ball came wide again and Stephen Myler’s flawless kicking took the score to 49-10 going into the final quarter of the action.

The ruthlessness of Wanderers heaped more misery on Sale, with Tom Collins sealing his hat-trick of tries to reach the half century for Wandies before a quick succession of offloads and electric pace from Collins added another score to the board.

Sale made one last charge, but the damage was done, with the Wandies' unbeaten bonus point run still intact.
