The New Zealander receives a TW Steel watch for his efforts, reward for an eye-catching few weeks in which he showed his versatility and quality across the back line. He beat off stiff competition from Mike Haywood and Tom Stephenson to the prize.
Wilson’s two tries at Allianz Park set the Saints on the way to an Aviva Premiership win over Saracens, with a third score coming at the Kassam Stadium a week later. And in all his 34 carries brought 198 metres and two more try assists.
The club also announced Sam Olver as the TW Steel Clubman of the Month, reward for his own playing efforts at Moseley that earned him a nod as Championship Player of the Month.
Director of rugby Jim Mallinder says that the fly half has shown an excellent attitude throughout November.
“Sam has knuckled down and been positive throughout his spell dual registered with Moseley,” he said. “His attitude and how he has approached his time at Moseley has been reflected in his award as Championship Player of the Month, and we thought it appropriate that he receive recognition and congratulations from the Saints as well for this achievement.
“I’m delighted for James that he has been named the Steffans Player of the Month. His levels of play all season have really stood out, and he brings a great deal of quality and adaptability to the squad. He has certainly earned his prize!”
Meanwhile Rhea Fielding had her name pulled from the hat as the supporter who receives a £50 voucher for use at Steffans Northampton.
