Wood leads England to Argentina

Travis PerkinsSponsored by Travis Perkins

The 26-year-old flanker has been an ever-present for England this season, winning the man-of-the-match award in December's memorable win over New Zealand.

Wood leads a 32-man squad which includes five current club mates and one future Saint, with Calum Clark, Lee Dickson, Paul Doran Jones, Ben Foden and Courtney Lawes being joined by Alex Corbisiero.

England start their summer programme - albeit without those players involved in the Aviva Premiership Rugby Final - with a Twickenham outing against the Barbarians on May 26th. They then head to Montevideo, Uruguay, for a friendly against a CONSUR XV before travelling onwards to Argentina for a two-test series with the Pumas.

"We're all delighted for Tom," said director of rugby Jim Mallinder. "He is a player who leads by example and who demands the highest standards from everyone else in the team and in the squad.

"Over the last 18 months he has had to battle back from an awkward injury, but the setbacks he had during that period have made him all the more determined to succeed.

"Argentina is a tough place to play and the Pumas are a formidable team, especially at home, and we wish Tom every success in leading the England squad there in June."
