BATH 16 SAINTS 30 Wood hails squad effort for Challenge Cup triumph

Although the match day squad which beat Bath at Cardiff Arms Park to bring home the silverware showed a handful of changes from that which overcame Leicester seven days earlier, all-in-all some 36 players saw action in the knockout stages.

And the England flanker says that the trophy would not have been won without their contributions.

"Selection is difficult, particularly when everyone is playing so well," Wood told SaintsTV. "Everyone's been putting their hand up, the likes of James Craig, who played so well in the semi-final, and people like Ben Nutley, Ethan Waller, and endless names I can't list them all.

"People like Will Hooley and Tom Stephenson have really stepped up. It's difficult for them [not to be selected] but they've all stayed positive, pushed the rest of the team in training and they've done all the hard work to get us here.

"It's been a real squad effort over the course of the season. They deserve a massive amount of credit and luckily we managed to do them justice and get the win for them."
