Over the past few years thousands of pounds have been donated by Claire through her website, www.redhatphoto.com.
For the foreseeable future these donations will now be received by the Leon Barwell Foundation, which was launched in October at Franklin’s Gardens and will provide support to families in Northamptonshire where a parent is battling cancer.
“I am delighted to able to announce that from now on I will be supporting the Leon Barwell Foundation through my work as Saints’ photographer,” Claire says. “Having a family member who has cancer can take a terrible toll on the other family members. I think it’s a brilliant idea to provide support to parents to create an event that gives everybody happy memories that they can look back on.
“My job as a photographer is to create memories of a sporting event. I’ve learned that having happy memories for those who have a family member who has cancer is so important. I was lucky enough earlier this year to work with Lee, Jo, Luis and Georgia Ghaut – I realised very quickly that the photos I was taking of the family at various events were important at the time and even more so now with Luis’ passing.
“All my fees from my work will go to the foundation – it’s a privilege to be able to use my passions of rugby and photography for such a great cause.”
Paula Barwell thanked Claire for her gesture of support.
“I’m tremendously grateful for Claire’s decision to support the Leon Barwell Foundation,” she said. “It is a gesture which I hope will resonate with Saints supporters, especially those who want to keep memories of the season as it continues throughout the winter and beyond, and I cannot think of a better synergy between the Foundation’s aims and the lasting memories that are created by a photograph.”

The Saints has also announced that proceeds of the club’s 2015 official calendar, which uses Claire Jones’s photographs, will also be donated to the Leon Barwell Foundation.
