Voting for the cinch Player of the Month award for May is open, with supporters able to choose the Saint they believe made the biggest contribution on the pitch throughout Northampton‘s final month of the season.
The competition will remain open until Monday 9 June, when the winning player will be announced by Northampton Saints and cinch.
Throughout the season, cinch are also offering up a range of prizes for those who vote for the award, with one lucky supporter each month selected at random after voting closes. For May, one lucky winner will receive a Saints ball signed by the 2024/25 squad!
Saints featured five times throughout May: opening the month with a historic 34-37 victory over Leinster Rugby in Dublin to reach the Investec Champions Cup Final, Saints then returned to league action to face Exeter Chiefs on the road (42-14) before claiming a 28-24 victory over Saracens in their final home clash of the season.
Northampton were agonisingly defeated by Union Bordeaux Bègles despite an immense display in Cardiff – claiming the runners-up medal as the French side secured a 28-20 win in the Final – and rounded off their season with another impressive outing with a young side at Gloucester Rugby, though ultimately fell 41-26 on the campaign’s final day.
With those clashes in mind, Saints’ coaches have selected five nominees for the monthly award: Alex Coles, Tommy Freeman, Curtis Langdon, Tom Litchfield and Ed Prowse.
Featuring across the second and back row for Saints in May, Coles played his final four matches of the season in Black, Green and Gold – making some 25 carries and 40 tackles across those games, while also scoring two tries for Northampton in the Champions Cup Final.
Winger Freeman kept up his impressive run of form this season throughout last month, scoring a hat-trick of tries in a man-of-the-match performance in the Champions Cup semi-final against Leinster, while also making 48 carries and 15 tackles across his three outings in May.
In the front row, Langdon featured at hooker three times for Saints – excelling on both sides of the ball to make 19 carries and 25 tackles across the month, with 18 of the latter coming against Leinster alone.
Litchfield proved to be a workhorse for Saints throughout May as he featured in all five clashes, making an impressive 60 carries and 20 tackles while also hitting 45 attacking rucks across the month and scoring his third try of the season against Gloucester last weekend.
Finally, Prowse rounded off his first season in the second row in style – featuring in four of Saints’ five outings, captaining Northampton against Gloucester and making 17 carries, 19 tackles and hitting some 63 attacking rucks across the month.
