England Squad 6N

Eight Saints named in England squad for Six Nations

Eight Northampton Saints players have been named in Steve Borthwick’s 36-man England squad for the Men’s Guinness Six Nations.

The group will gather at the England Rugby Performance Centre, Pennyhill Park, on Tuesday, 27 January, for a day’s training before travelling to Girona to continue preparations.

In the forwards, Borthwick has selected the Saints quartet of Alex Coles, front rowers Trevor Davison and uncapped Emmanuel Iyogun and British and Irish Lion, Henry Pollock.

In the backs, there are two more Lions, Tommy Freeman and Alex Mitchell, as well as Fraser Dingwall and Saints club captain, George Furbank.

Fin Smith will also go into camp to continue his rehabilitation.

“We’ve picked a squad with a good balance of experience, leadership and exciting potential,” said Borthwick.

“The margins in the Guinness Six Nations are incredibly fine, so our aim over the coming days is to come together quickly, prepare thoroughly, and make sure we’re ready to perform.

“If we prepare well and keep demanding the highest levels from one another, it puts us in the strongest possible position when the Championship begins.”

All England matches will be shown live on ITV1.
