Already in the second season of a four-year sponsorship of the Elite Insurance Sevens Series, a unique tournament for Under-13 school teams in the Saints Academy region, the company is now also supporting a brand new competition, the Elite Insurance Club Sevens.
This tournament is for Under-13 club teams in Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Suffolk. Following a similar format to its schools counterpart, the winners and runners-up of each regional Elite Insurance Club Sevens tournament will head to Franklin’s Gardens to battle it out for the right to be named overall champions.
The finals will be held on Friday, August 1st, ahead of the Northampton leg of the 2014 Premiership Rugby Sevens Series, making Franklin’s Gardens a centre of attention for the Olympic version of the sport!
Dates and locations for the regional tournaments are as follows:
NORTHAMPTONSHIRE Olney RFC; Monday, April 14th
SUFFOLK Colchester RFC; Wednesday, April 16th
CAMBRIDGESHIRE Cambridge RFC; Wednesday, April 23rd
BEDFORDSHIRE Dunstablians RFC; Tuesday, April 29th
FINALS DAY Franklin’s Gardens; Friday, August 1st
Each tournament takes place in the evening of the relevant date.

The Elite Insurance Sevens Series has gone from strength to strength in its first two years, with over 45 schools competing in 2014. And Elite’s chief executive, Jason Smart, believes that the Club Sevens can follow suit.

The Elite Insurance Club Sevens is the latest in the wide range of age group tournaments organised by Northampton Saints. Over the course of a season thousands of young rugby players in age groups ranging from Under-7s to Under-16s descend on Franklin’s Gardens on first team match days, with trophies and medals handed out on the main pitch during the half-time interval of that day’s Saints game.
