Elite Insurance Sevens Series finals day taking shape

Tuesday afternoon proved the biggest yet as 15 Suffolk schools gathered at Stowmarket RFC. On an afternoon of high quality sevens, St. Joseph’s College provided a dramatic finish, scoring with the last play of the final to edge out Royal Hospital School.

Both schools advance to finals day - St. Jo’s having made it to the Gardens last year - while reigning champions Northampton School for Boys also confirmed their status as genuine challengers once more by claiming the Northamptonshire leg two days later.

Having advanced to the final with six wins from six, NSB came up against another unbeaten side in Campion. While the latter would make the perfect start by scoring first, NSB stormed back to take home the trophy, scoring four unanswered tries on the back pitches at the Saints.

The above quartet of schools join Soham Village College, Linton Village College, Lincroft School and Ousedale for the finals at Franklin’s Gardens on Thursday, April 24th with just the Oxfordshire leg left to play.

The Elite Insurance Sevens Series is enjoying its biggest year yet, with in excess of 50 teams from five regions competing for the championship.
