England select four Saints for World U20 Championship play-off

The Northampton Saints quartet of Archie McParland, Ollie Scola, Aiden Ainsworth-Cave and Jonny Weimann have all been named in England U20 Men’s squad to face Wales.

Rugby Viadana’s Stadio Luigi Zaffanella is hosting the 2025 World Rugby U20 Championship fifth-place play-off on Monday 14 June (kick-off: 2.30pm). The match will be streamed live and free on RugbyPass TV in the UK and Ireland.

McParland earns his ninth U20 cap wearing the number nine shirt, while fellow scrum-half Weimann will earn his fifth cap at this level if deployed from the bench. Prop Scola and lock Ainsworth-Cave are both primed to make their eighth U20 appearances as replacements.

Assistant coach Andy Titterrell said: “Wales are a team we’ve faced twice already this year but as with every match, we approach it with a clean slate and the utmost determination.

“The attitude from our players in training has been relentless and working within our framework, we want them to be daring and brave on the pitch. Despite the rollercoaster of emotions in recent days, we as a brotherhood still have our own story to write in this competition.”
