Foden: Our discipline simply wasn't good enough

After suffering a difficult defeat at Worcester Warriors yesterday, Saints sit eighth in the Aviva Premiership table as they look ahead to the challenge of Sale Sharks away next week.

Ben Foden spoke to Saints TV after the game yesterday and was quick to point out where the game fell away from Saints.

"Discipline in the first half. Giving them easy field position. People ask questions about our defence and we have worked hard on it this week but if you give away penalties and give them the field position then they don't have to miss any tackles, they can just get close to the line and drive over from a maul or with pick and goes. That let us down today.

"Horne going off for ten minutes doesn't help, losing Luther early on too; those two guys are probably our main defence leaders so losing those guys and going down to 14 puts extra pressure on ourselves.

"It's an easy fix but discipline has been a area that's let us down, especially over the last three or four weeks."

The winger, who scored one of Saints' two tries at Sixways, said the result was nothing short of a disappointment for the team.

"It's disappointing. Where do we want to be at the end of the season? These are the kind of games you've got to target.

"We did target it, we thought we could turn our season around by getting a good win here but it wasn't to be. We'll look for a reaction from the lads for next week."
