Foden reflects on "roller coaster" season (1)

The full back was at his electric best in the Saints' first ever Aviva Premiership Final and while it wasn't enough to upset the odds, Foden agreed that the showpiece was almost a microcosm of the Saints campaign as a whole.

"Today's game does sum up our season really - it's been a bit of a roller coaster ride!" he told SaintsTV. "There's been times where we've been brilliant but also times where we've been not up to standard. The two-week period when we played Ulster home and away showed that and I guess that comes down to the way we play the game.

"We put it all out on the field and sometimes for whatever reason it doesn't work out, or you come up short. We showed great resilience and came out swinging with 14 men against a very strong Leicester outfit today though. We didn't quite have the puff to see it out but unfortunately that's the game of rugby."

Yet despite another heart-breaking end to a Saints season, Foden is eager for the side to come back stronger and take the pluses from what was a remarkable road to Twickenham for the men in black, green and gold.

"Personally it's been a pretty tough season for me with a serious injury and then not being involved in international rugby. It was nice to finish with a major final and while it didn't go the way any of us wanted it too, hopefully we'll take the positives and move forward.
