Securing their place back in the top six of the Aviva Premiership, seven points clear of seventh place Harlequins as things stand, Saints’ bonus point win over Sale Sharks at the AJ Bell last night puts them back in contention for the fight for a top four finish.

Ben Foden said that the whole squad was delighted with the win and put in a huge effort to achieve the whole team performance that got them the five league points.

“We're delighted,” Foden told SaintsTV after the game last night.

“I thought the boys really put in a great performance. We asked for 80 minutes and it wasn't the prettiest at times but I thought tactically we were awesome.

“I'm really proud of the boys. It's really good to be able to get an away win.”

Now with two weeks away from competitive rugby, Foden says the squad will enjoy a bit of time off before coming back refreshed and ready to take on Bedford Blues in a friendly before gearing up for Derby Day at the Gardens at Saints host Leicester on March 25th.

“I don't want to say where I’m going because people might be jealous but I'll have a good time, I've got a week off.

“We're going to enjoy our time off and then we're looking forwards to getting back and ready.

“We'll get the boys who haven’t played much some game time against Bedford and then it’s all eyes on Leicester for Derby Day.

“Hopefully we'll bring the same attitude we did today, tactically we approached the game really well.

“We just did the simple things well and played to our strengths. Our set piece was awesome, the forwards gave us a great platform, Stephen Myler put us in the right areas.

“Obviously it will depend on the weather and the circumstances of the game against Tigers, but if we can come up with a good game plan, stick to it, execute it well then hopefully we can get the win we're looking for.”

Saints host Leicester Tigers on March 25th in what could shape up to be one of the biggest games of the season as well as holding all the pressure a Derby Day normally does. So make your voice count, tickets available HERE.
