Francis: It's great to be back

After securing their place in the Anglo-Welsh Cup semi-finals last Friday night, Saints’ attention quickly turns back to the Aviva Premiership as they prepare to make the trip to Bath this Friday.

Despite having his first season as a Saint disrupted somewhat by injuries, Piers Francis made his return to the squad against Harlequins and said that he was keen to kick on as Northampton aim to climb back up the Aviva Premiership table.

“It's not been the smoothest of starts with Saints,” Francis commented about his arrival in Northampton.

“But it's great to be back now having broken my jaw early doors and then having concussion problems over the last five or six weeks – I was itching to get back playing in the jersey.

“Obviously, we were making sure that I was right to play without rushing anything. We've gone to lengths to make sure I'd gone through all the protocols and seen specialists. But I feel like I'm ready to play and I was definitely ready on Friday night.

“I got really excited about it and it was great to get the win and get the semi-final in the Anglo-Welsh Cup. And now straight away we're back into the Aviva Premiership which is really exciting.

“Hopefully I can don the jersey again on Friday night and do the club proud.”
