Saints' fullback Tommy Freeman is among four Northampton players named in the England squad for the upcoming Autumn Series, with George Furbank, Courtney Lawes and Lewis Ludlam also named within the 34-man squad.
Club captain Ludlam heads into the camp – that convenes for five days of training in Jersey from Monday (25 October) – looking to add to his 10 caps, while Lawes has a century of international appearances in his sights, with the lock racking up 87 England caps to date.
And fullback pair Furbank and Freeman join their teammates in the squad, with 20-year-old Freeman currently uncapped and heading into the camp hoping to catch the eye of head coach Eddie Jones.
“This is a young but very good, talented squad who have all earned their places. It is one of the most competitive squads I have ever picked,” said Jones.
“We’re looking forward to three tough Test matches. Tonga always play a strong, physical game and Australia and South Africa have had extended periods together and will be a good challenge for us.
“Our aim each week will be to get better and better as we work towards the Rugby World Cup in 2023.”
The camp will form part of England’s preparations for the Autumn Internationals in November, when they will host Tonga [Saturday 6 November, 3.15pm KO], Australia [Saturday 13 November, 5.30pm KO] and world champions South Africa [Saturday 20 November, 3.15pm KO]. All matches will be live on Amazon Prime.
