Hanrahan enjoying tough start to training

The Irishman arrived from Munster at the start of the summer, and after three months of pre-season training took to the field in the second half of the Saints’ pre-season win at Saracens last Saturday.

SaintsTV caught up with him last week to find out how he is settling in to life in the Midlands and taking on the challenges set by the club’s conditioning team.

“I’m loving it,” he said. “Everything here is great. Training has been pretty tough, which is always a good sign.

“We’re back into the rugby stuff, so that’s pretty exciting and something I really want to be involved in.”

Although he still just 22 years of age Hanrahan still has plenty of experience, having played 51 times for his native Munster in the Pro 12 and Champions Cup. But while he already has this under his belt the fly half is still keen to learn and improve further, not least in impressing his new housemates with his cooking skills!

“Even just in things like strength, conditioning and nutrition I’m learning new things so that’s always exciting,” he added. “The boys in the house are unbelievable with their diet - that’s something I’ve really picked up on.

“We have a cooking rota so you have to cook one night a week which puts you under pressure when you’re cooking for lads that really know what they’re doing!”
