Lawes-less Lions downed in Otago

The British and Irish Lions lost a second midweek match on tour, though all fingers will be crossed for Courtney Lawes, who was forced from the field in the first half against the Highlanders.

The Saints second row took a knock to the head as he attempted to make a cover tackle on try scorer Waisake Naholo and while Jonathan Joseph and Sam Warburton crossed to edge the Lions in front, Marty Banks coolly slotted a late penalty to steal the spoils for the hosts.

Warren Gatland's men now have just two more hit outs before the first Test with the All Blacks on June 24th, first tackling a dangerous looking Maori collective this weekend before heading to Hamilton on Tuesday to face the Chiefs.

Start your day right for the first Test with a Lions Breakfast at Franklin's Gardens! Enjoy a full English and bar before getting stuck into the action on big screens in the Rodber Suite - more details HERE
