Courtney Lawes has been named on the shortlist for the Northamptonshire Sports Personality of the Year for 2017.

After picking up the Aviva Premiership Player of the Month for September this week, Courtney Lawes has been named among the nine-name shortlist for Northamptonshire Sports Personality of the Year.

Touring with the British and Irish Lions over the summer, as well as putting in consistently strong performances for Saints as they worked to secure their place in the European Champions Cup at the end of the 2016/17 season, Lawes has been the cornerstone in Saints' success so far in their campaign.

The linchpin in Saints impressive home performances against Leicester Tigers and Bath after opening day disappointment, the 28-year-old was imperative to Saints’ victory at the Madejski Stadium before opening the scoring for the men in black, green and gold in the side’s win over Harlequins on the last day of the month.

This year there is a fantastic line up of contenders for the prize from across the county who have all excelled at the highest level in their sport over the past year.

The nominees for the Northamptonshire Sports Personality 2017 (sponsored by Travis Perkins) are:

- Michael Smallwood (Traithlon)
- Jamie Walker (Lawn Bowls)
- Meghan MacLaren (Golf)
- Courtney Lawes (Rugby Union)
- Richard Levi (Cricket)
- Rob Newton (Cricket)
- Zander Diamond (Football)
- Eleanor Robinson (Para-Swimming)
- Kyren Wilson (Snooker)

Voting is open until Friday October 20th at 5pm, with the winner being announced at the Northamptonshire Sports Awards on November 9th. Each person is limited to one vote so make yours count and vote for Lawes HERE.
