The game is the penultimate event in Paul Diggin’s testimonial year, and will celebrate a playing career which included 148 appearances, 62 tries, several winners’ medals and other appearances in major finals.
Legends that will line up in the Saints All Stars team include former captains Bruce Reihana and Budge Pountney, Heineken Cup-winning centre partnership Matt Allen and Allan Bateman, Lions hero Tom Smith and club stalwarts such as Jon Phillips and Dan Richmond.
Sunday’s game kicks off at 3pm, with entry costing £10 for adults and £1 for juniors, payable on the gate.
Free car parking is available in Car Parks A, B and C from 12noon, with gates opening at 1pm. As well as the match itself, the day will include a raffle – match worn boots signed by Diggin being one of the available prizes – and loads of fun for all the family in the Village.
“I’m pretty sure that this will be the last time you see me in the Saints colours on the Franklin’s Gardens pitch,” Diggin told the Chronicle and Echo. “It’s sad, but it’s the start of something new for me in my new coaching role.
“I’ve had a good run; I’m proud of the things I’ve achieved at Northampton and hopefully I can achieve more with the coaching.”
Proceeds from the game will be shared with Niamh’s Next Step. For more information head to www.diggertestimonial.com
