LV= pain driving Dickson and Saints

The scrum-half’s try spearheaded a spirited comeback at Allianz Park in Saturday afternoon’s LV= Cup semi-final, but in the end it wasn’t enough and Dickson couldn’t hide his disappointment.

“We’ve got a lot of disappointed young lads in the changing room, but I’m just as disappointed as them,” he told SaintsTV.

“No one takes losing well and when you look around, whether it’s your Phil Dowsons or Sam Olvers, we’re all just as annoyed or as down as each other."

Last year the Saints' LV= Cup journey ended in the final at Exeter and the side rebounded to win both the Challenge Cup and Aviva Premiership later in the year. Although keen not to dismiss missing out on the first silverware of 2015, Dickson did cast one eye over a huge run in.

“It’s something we draw from, but we wanted to win the LV= Cup. We want to win every cup going and you should never give up on winning trophies – you never know when your last one might be.

“But now we’ve got to focus on big games coming up against Wasps and then Clermont. Today showed the fine margins in knockout rugby and your season means nothing if you don’t win quarter finals or semi-finals.

“We’ve got a big 10 weeks coming up.”
