The scoring was started by Scott Armstrong as early as the eighth minute and the backs would continue to run riot right up to the interval with six further tries. Personnel changed but the hosts still dazzled after the break, Alex Wootton and Anders Mogensen bagging two tries apiece before a final quarter dominated by the RAF produced their consolation score.
Will Hooley kicked 14 points to supplement the try frenzy, which began with a simple opener - a quick free kick teeing up Armstrong who was over in a flash from close range. His second was a mazy long range effort, but not before Tom Collins had collected Will Hooley's well-judged kick and bamboozled his opposite number to dot down on the right.
On the left, Noah Cato also got in on the act and outside centre Armstrong then broke from inside his own half for the fourth. With Hooley knocking over three of the four conversions, the hosts were 26-3 up in the blink of an eye.
On almost the same blades of grass, Tom Stephenson matched his centre partner's break before unselfishly putting Ross McMillan under the sticks and just four minutes later Hooley was knocking over another simple conversion after speedsters Mogensen, Cato and Armstrong combined to send Alex Day scampering over.
The RAF were certainly providing a physical challenge, but in open play the Wanderers were cutting through at will and Armstrong again turned on the power to lay on Day's second of the afternoon on the stroke of half-time.
The 10 minute break didn't seem to stem the Wanderers' flow either and when the ball was swept wide, Alex Wootton blasted through the last man. The Academy winger was instrumental in the next try too, spotting space, running the arc and feeding Anders Mogensen and the pair would each double up before the hour, shredding the visiting defence out wide.
Predictably the RAF refused to give in and having all but camped out in the home 22 for the final 20 minutes their efforts were rewarded. The Wanderers had stemmed the tide with countless tackles but the Air Force men needed to slip only one to crash beneath the posts and head home with a little something to smile about.
The Wanderers Aviva 'A' League semi-final with Saracens is at the Gardens on Monday, December 10th and entry is FREE to all Season Ticket Holders, Associate Members and Bernie's Gang Juniors.
