Stephen Morgan, the winner of this year’s Northampton Rugby Spirit Award, has described receiving the “huge honour” as ”overwhelming”.
“It’s a huge honour; I’m overwhelmed by it,” said Morgan.
In his role with the East Midlands Rugby Union, Morgan works closely with Ross Stewart and the rest of the Saints Community Team to help develop a player pathway for players below the Elite Player Development Group (EPDG).
“I work with Ross Stewart from the Saints Community Department over many coffees, with the involvement and support of the RFU. The support I get from Saints, from their community department, is second to none.
“I’ve never ever worked with a group of people that are so dedicated and so good at what they do, and so open-minded."
Over the years rugby has played an important role in all aspects of Morgan’s life: “What I most enjoy about rugby is the fun and friendship and it’s taught me how to live my life, really.
“It’s taught me about values, about friendship and it’s helped me through my business life. Now that’s finished, it’s helping me again through my rugby and my coaching.”
