Move Like a Pro participants share Twickenham spotlight

While Saracens and Exeter Chiefs battled it out at Twickenham Stadium earlier this month in a bid to be crowned Gallagher Premiership Rugby champions, participants from Northampton Saints' Move Like A Pro programme also took to the hallowed Twickenham turf for a touch rugby festival ahead of the action.

As part of Premiership Rugby’s plan to improve a million lives, 310,000 people a year come in contact with one of their community initiatives.

And over 1,000 of those attended the Gallagher Premiership Rugby final, rubbing shoulders with some of the biggest names in rugby.

The festival took place just over the road at Kneller Hall on the morning of the Gallagher Premiership Rugby Final, featuring participants of Move Like A Pro from across the country  including a group of 15 members of staff from Barclaycard in Northampton.

Move Like A Pro is a 12-week programme designed by Premiership Rugby’s professional rugby coaches for people who aren’t currently particularly active, inspiring a legacy of long-term lifestyle change across the rugby fan community.

Offering both classroom and activity-based health interventions, including those related to levels of physical activity, diet changes, social connectedness and mental wellbeing, MLAP is open to both men and women.

“The team from Barclaycard approached the day with real enthusiasm, and entered into the spirit and values of rugby,” said Jamie Higgins, MLAP programme manager.

“But most importantly all the participants built a real bond that will support them in maintaining their healthy lifestyle changes moving forward.”
