Myler: "We've come a hell of a way"

The fly half was involved on that afternoon too as the Saints saw off Exeter in the first of six finals in six seasons and having been an ever present along the way, the 28-year-old says there's only one direction the squad will be heading in.

"If you think back to the last time we were here, we were in League One," he told SaintsTV. "It's only been five years in between but we've won a Challenge Cup, an LV= Cup and reached the final of both the Heineken Cup and Premiership.

"We've come a hell of a way and we're going in the right direction. Reaching a final isn't easy, let alone winning one, but we've had a taste for it now and we'll be working our tails off to be back here again next year."

Saturday's defeat was the downside of a bitter-sweet end to 2013/14 for try scorer Myler, who has since jetted off to South America for England's pair of Tests with Argentina. Yet with a long overdue first cap potentially on the cards, the Saints' second highest points gatherer of all-time isn't getting carried away.

"I'm not too sure what it means moving forward but what I am excited about is being involved in the setup, hopefully pulling on an England shirt for the next three games and showing my worth.
