North hits international half-century

Travis PerkinsSponsored by Travis Perkins

North has been named on the left wing for Wales’s Rugby World Cup warm-up against Ireland, which is being played in Dublin’s Aviva Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

He beats some illustrious names to become the youngest player to hit 50 appearances, including World Cup winners Joe Roff (Australia) and Jonny Wilkinson (England) and legends George Smith (Australia) and Sergio Parisse (Italy).

Last season he scored 14 tries in his 16 Saints appearances and won the Try of the Season for his effort against Gloucester.

North lines up in a strong Wales team that will be captained by Ospreys lock Alun Wyn Jones, and all of those involved will be wanting to impress before Warren Gatland finalises his squad for the Rugby World Cup on Monday.

Saturday’s game is being televised on Sky Sports 1, with coverage starting at 2:15pm.
