Northampton Saints and Travis Perkins extend record-breaking partnership

Northampton Saints has today announced that Travis Perkins has agreed a new four-year deal to remain as the club’s Principal Sponsor.

This latest extension, which will see Travis Perkins’ logo be carried with pride on the Saints’ playing shirts until at least 2021, continues what was already the longest continuous main sponsorship anywhere in top flight professional sport in the United Kingdom.

Travis Perkins first became the Saints’ Principal Sponsor in 2001, entrenching a relationship between the company - and its forebears - with the club. The Travis family has been a major part of the Saints’ history for nearly a century, with Ernest Travis being president in the mid-1920s and Tony Travis recognised for his contributions as a director and investor by being named a life member in 2014.

Latterly the team’s recent successes, including the 2014 Aviva Premiership and European Challenge Cup double, and nine cup finals in as many years, has given the partnership global profile thanks to the rapid TV expansions of both the Aviva Premiership and European rugby overseas. Saints chief executive Allan Robson says that the relationship with Travis Perkins has been vital in establishing the club at the top of English club rugby.

“I’m confident that no club in any sport has as good a partnership as we have with Travis Perkins,” he said. “We’ve been on a long journey together as a club and company, but more importantly we have established a fantastic relationship on a personal level, too.

“Many Travis Perkins employees are Season Ticket Holders and we know that the company’s management takes a great deal of pride in seeing their name on the front of our shirts in the Aviva Premiership and when we play overseas in the European Rugby Champions Cup.

“Both of us are major parts of the Northampton community – Travis Perkins as a major employer, the Saints in giving the town a team to cheer at the highest level of English and European rugby.

“This latest extension will take the Principal Sponsorship past the 20-year mark, which is something to be celebrated.”

Travis Perkins plc’s chief executive John Carter echoed these sentiments.

“I am really proud to be announcing our continued partnership with Northampton Saints,” he said. “We’ve got such a long-standing relationship with the club now, they’ve truly become a key part of who we are as a local company and employer.”
