The Number 8, who stood out in every game he played in – taking the man of the match award from the game against England – did not just catch the eye of the supporters and pundits.
His nomination came on the back of a statistical analysis by Accenture, official technology partner of the Six Nations, who worked with former South Africa and Italy coach Nick Mallet to draw up the 12-man shortlist.
