Pisi shortlisted for Citizen Try of the Season

George Pisi’s try in Round 22 of the Aviva Premiership against Gloucester has been shortlisted for the Citizen Try of the Season award.

The try gave Saints an early lead after 16 minutes following Greig Laidlaw’s penalty, as Saints went on to secure a 28-20 victory on Saturday to secure Champions Cup rugby for next season.

In total, there were 616 tries scored in this season’s Aviva Premiership with tries from Leicester Tigers’ Peter Betham (v Gloucester Rugby), Harlequins’ Ross Chisholm (v Gloucester Rugby), Sale Sharks’ Sam James (v Northampton Saints), Leicester Tigers’ Harry Thacker (v Northampton Saints) and Wasps’ Cooper Vuna (v Saracens) also shortlisted for the award.

The shortlist was compiled by a panel of media professionals: Ben Coles (Planet Rugby), Jill Douglas (Freelance), Alastair Eykyn (BT Sport), Chris Hewett (Freelance), Chris Jones (BBC Radio), Stephen Jones (Sunday Times), Robert Kitson (The Guardian), Sarah MOckford (Rugby World) and Nick Mullins (BT Sport). Paul Morgan, Premiership Rugby’s Communications Director chaired the panel.

The winner of the award will be announced at the Aviva Premiership Rugby Awards on Wednesday, May 18th which are being held at the London Hilton, Park Lane. The awards will be hosted by BT Sport’s Craig Doyle.
