Saints Academy secure success over England South

In an entertaining game full of running rugby the Saints youngsters scored six tries in all. Prop Harry Morley scored two, with wing Ryan Headington and centre Charlie Esam also crossing the whitewash.

However with the scores locked at 28-all with 10 minutes to go it needed a pair of tries from flanker Ashley Elvers to secure the victory, Sam Olver adding one of his four overall conversions.

Academy manager Alan Dickens was pleased with the win, but said that there were areas of improvement.

"It was a good game for us and the lads showed their character again in scoring two late tries to get the win," he commented. "However we are always looking to improve, and there were aspects of our game - especially in defence - which will have to get better.

"That said, we were able to integrate several Under-16s into a more senior team, and they did well on their debuts."
