Northampton Saints are proud to announce the launch of a new national opportunity for Walking Rugby teams and players to participate regularly in the sport.
Since 2023, Saints have had their own Walking Rugby team and has continued to grow its member base in the last three years for their weekly sessions on Thursday evenings.
That success comes in the context of a wider growth of Walking Rugby participation across the country, something which Saints are hoping to harness and see blossom with the formation of a Walking Rugby league.
Consisting of 16 teams and held over four weekend dates in 2026, clubs can enter with a squad of up to 12 players, with the final being staged on the main pitch at cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens.
“We wanted to create a new opportunity for Walking Rugby teams to come together and play matches,” said Saints’ Walking Rugby coach, Callum Manley.
“We have great relationships with other clubs around us and have played fixtures against them over the last few years.
“The league gives teams a chance to offer a playing opportunity to their club’s members on top of the training sessions they run. We want to be able to utilise our world-class facilities here at cinch Stadium to help bring people together and grow the sport.”
