Saints quintet see Six Nations action

It all started on Friday evening with a pair for Academy backs Howard Packman and Rory Hutchinson. Wing Packman started in England Under-20’s hard-fought 19-15 over Ireland in Dublin, while Hutchinson was again pulling the strings at fly half as Scotland crushed Italy 45-0.

It leaves the Under-20 Six Nations in an impossibly tight situation, four teams tied on four points following two wins from three but England leading the way on points difference.

Saturday evening brought victory number three as George North returned in Wales colours and became the youngest ever player to win 50 Test caps at just 22 years old. It was a mighty impressive win to mark the occasion, as well, a 20-13 triumph over France in Paris.

The weekend was to end in disappointment in Dublin, however, for England pair Luther Burrell and Dylan Hartley. The potential Grand Slam decider was bossed by Ireland at the Aviva Stadium and a 19-9 scoreline was more than deserved for Joe Schmidt’s side.

On a final note, a trio of former Saints pulled on an England shirt at the weekend as England Legends beat Ireland at Donnybrook. Saints Academy coach Paul Diggin was joined in the squad by fans’ favourite Jon Phillips and Robbie Morris.
