Unlike previous years, this season’s Premiership Rugby Sevens Series will be a straight knockout competition from the opening match.
The inclusion of the two Welsh regions means that the teams will enter straight into a quarter final, with the winner advancing to the Cup semi-finals and the loser going into a Plate competition.
The Saints shook off their opening-match woes to record wins over both Wasps and Saracens and book their place at the Twickenham Stoop as Group C runners-up.
Gloucester, meanwhile, beat Exeter, London Irish and Bath at Kingsholm last Thursday night on their way to progressing as Group B winners.
“With the excitement of the Commonwealth Games and the Rio Olympics on the horizon, Sevens has really caught people's imagination this summer," said Phil Winstanley, Premiership Rugby’s Rugby Director.
“Crowds have been high for the Premiership Rugby Sevens with over 35,000 people enjoying the group stages and we are expecting to establish a new record attendance across the Series.
“The addition of the Welsh Regions for the first time creates an added ingredient for this eagerly-anticipated event.”
