SCARLETS U18s 17 SAINTS U18s 17 A rainy draw for Saints' young guns

With the rain lashing down, Saints' Under-18s looked to have won the first match of their Wales tour as they face Scarlets in Llanelli but a late score from their hosts saw the game end in a draw.

Facing off with a strong Scarlets side at the Parc y Scarlets, Saints' young guns battled it out with their hosts in atrocious conditions but were first off the mark with a Fin Creighton penalty.

Minutes later a well worked try followed after Saints were camped on Scarlets' line for 15 phases. Eventually Sam Cappeart got over in the corner, which Creighton converted.

Scarlets got on the scoreboard themselves just before the break but left their try unconverted to see Saints lead by a score at the turnaround.

Saints started the second half as they had their first - well - and soon sent Jake Johnson over in the corner for their second. The conditions were testing but Creighton, too, send these extras over.

For the remaining 25 minutes Saints were defending as Scarlets make one final push for the line. They made it over with 10 on the clock before crossing the whitewash once more on the stroke of full time, their fly-half converting to see the game end in a draw.

After a brilliant game from both sides in tough conditions, Saints now head to Ospreys on Friday (Aug 18th) before returning to England next week to face Saracens away (Aug 23rd) in their final preseason encounter.
