Six Lightning stars in for Red Roses in Six Nations

Six members of the joint Northampton Saints / Loughborough Lightning side have been named in the Red Roses squad for of the upcoming TikTok Women’s Six Nations, with Simon Middleton naming his 40-player squad on Monday.

Hooker Lark Davies will link up with Lightning teammates Detysha Harper, Sarah Hunter and Sadia Kabeya as Middleton includes the forward quartet; while fly-half Helena Rowland will go in search of an eleventh international cap alongside Emily Scarratt, who is back in the fold after recovering from a broken leg on the opening day of the 2021/22 Allianz Premier 15s season.

With 278 caps amongst them to date, the Loughborough players will convene with the rest of the squad at St. George’s Park on Tuesday (8 March) for the first of two camps at the East Midlands venue before fine-tuning their preparations at Bisham Abbey.

England open their Six Nations campaign in Scotland (Saturday 26 March, KO 12pm at DAM Health Stadium), with all Six Nations matches being broadcast on the BBC throughout the tournament.

Head coach Middleton said: “This is our last competitive tournament before we go into the World Cup so it’s an opportunity for players to put their best foot forward.

“We’ve got a summer’s preparation to go but ultimately how people perform on the biggest stages is critical to us.

“We’re really excited and can’t wait to get started.

“We have a tremendous amount of competition in the squad both in terms of the established players and especially in terms of the younger players now coming through, which is great.”
