Six Saints named in Flats' Anglo-Welsh Cup team of the week

Six Northampton Saints stars have been named in pundit David Flatman's team of the week after shining in the Anglo-Welsh Cup triumph over Harlequins last Friday.

The hosts surged into the Anglo-Welsh Cup semi-finals at a canter at Franklin's Gardens, running in five tries to beat the Londoners 36-10 and set up a last-four clash with Bath Rugby.

And while the Saints were clearly inspired under the Friday Night Lights, their performance also caught the eye of David Flatman, who has selected an incredible six Saints players in his Flats’ XV this week.

George North made the headlines on the wing, returning to the Saints side with a try, and his performance was picked out first by Flatman. It took the Welshman just seven minutes to turn on the afterburners and leave the Harlequins defence for dead.

It was part of an encouraging all-round display from North; who made 92 metres with ball-in-hand, beat seven defenders and has been recalled by Wales this weekend following the display.

He was not the only Saints winger with dancing feet as Ken Pisi crossed twice in the win, taking his individual tally to a sensational five tries in five matches in 2018.

Another try scorer in Tom Stephenson also makes it in at outside centre, while man-of-the-match Mikey Haywood was selected in the front row after a superb all-around display that saw him notch up two try assists, complete ten flawless tackles, and win seven lineouts on his own throw.

Api Ratuniyarawa's excellent run of form continued in the second row and he was selected by Flatman after making 51 metres with the ball in hand from seven runs, beating two opposition players along the way and making 14 tackles in defence.

And last but by no means least, Jamie Gibson makes Flats' XV in the back row after completing more tackles than anyone else on the park with 22, missing none.
