Six young Saints join up with England for U18 half-term camp

Six of Northampton Saints’ under-18 squad have been selected for England Development Camps during the upcoming half-term break.

A total of 66 players will attend three separate camps at Queen Ethelburga's Collegiate School (York), Clifton College (Bristol) and Bisham Abbey.

Second row Emeka Atuanya (NSB, Old Scouts), back row Geordie Irvine (Oundle School), fly-half Matty Arden (Stamford School, Oundle RFC), utility back Sonny Rodella (Bedford School, Old Scouts), and wing Frankie Sleightholme (NSB, Old Scouts) will all attend the North camp in York.

Meanwhile scrum-half Jake Garside (Norwich School, Wymondham RFC) has been selected for the central camp at Bisham Abbey.

“This is a great chance for six of our lads to be exposed to a different coaching environment, and to test themselves against the very top players in the country,” said Junior Academy Development Manager, Will Parkin.

“It’s great for us to see them recognised for all their hard work over the lockdown period; they had to stay disciplined and continue their training in what were obviously unusual circumstances. Our huge thanks, as always, goes to their schools and clubs for the support in continuing the boys’ development.”
