Study Centre enjoys packed summer

Travis PerkinsSponsored by Travis Perkins

Over the past few weeks the Study Centre has welcomed children from five schools in the Northampton area – Headlands, Weston Favell, Lings, East Hunsbury and Simon de Senlis primary schools – to take part in the Holiday Challenge Programme.

During their week at the Study Centre the students immersed themselves in a variety of activities, both inside and away from the classroom, from building their IT and maths skills, arts and crafts with puppet making, performing a drama piece based on the life of Edgar Mobbs, learning a haka, and burning off their excess energy with tag rugby and trampolining.

The programme was run by the Saints Study Centre and was supported by a group of mentors from Campion School, the University of Northampton and Barclays. External sessions were delivered by visiting deliverers, including Kevin Burke (County Jester) and Amie Nicholson.

The Saints Study Centre would like to extend its thanks to Councillors Arthur McCutcheon and Brandon Eldred, the Northampton Town Area Improvement Partnership, and Northamptonshire County Council’s Virtual Schools department at the County Council, without whose funding the Holiday Challenge Programme could not have happened.

The Saints Study Centre has a wide range of programmes to enhance the work of any school or college in Northamptonshire, from working with students who need additional support or rewarding achievement and good behaviour. To find out more head to www.northamptonsaints.co.uk/education
