Success for Saints on representative duty

This past Sunday half-a-dozen Junior Saints Academy players started in the Midlands' comprehensive 31-7 romp over the South West in the RFU Divisional Championship.

Charlie Esam (Bedford School) and Lewis Jones (Moulton College) partnered up in the centres, with Ben Pointon (Rugby School) and Cameron Lee-Everton (Moulton College) steering the team as the half-backs. Meanwhile up front Steve Arroyo-Hover (Moulton College) and Ryan Brett-Williams (Bedford School) packed down on the flank.

Last week England Under-16s met up for a training camp. Eleven of the 71-man squad came from Franklin's Gardens - Daniel Bhatti (Bedford Modern), Tim Cardall (Prince William School), Freddie Davison (Bedford School), George Furbank (Kimbolton), John Hawkins (Manshead School), Patrick McDuell (Bedford Modern), Alex Moon (Sedburgh School), Henry Peck (Vandyke Upper), James Pollard (Bedford Modern), Rotimi Segun (Northampton School for Boys) and Garth Spencer (Biddenham School) - meaning that 15 percent of the total squad were representing the Saints.

Five of those players - Davison, McDuell, Moon, Peck and Segun - played for England U16s' first team in their win over Gloucester Under-17, with the rest playing in a 'North v South' trial match.
