Travis Perkins overwhelmed by support for Big Christmas Toy Collection

Donations had been trickling in to Franklin’s Gardens throughout the week leading up to the game, but that became a flood on match day, with 14 Travis Perkins bulk bags being filled to the brim during the afternoon.

Putting that into context, each bulk bag normally holds one tonne of building sand, and there were so many bags filled that they have had to be stored at several locations within the stadium!

“The response to the Toy Collection appeal from Saints supporters has been overwhelming,” said Travis Perkins group HR director Carol Kavanagh. “We cannot thank them enough for their incredible generosity.

“Colleagues from our Head Office departments are also donating over the next two weeks so we are sure that, together, we will put a smile on the faces of thousands of children in care or in need across Northamptonshire this Christmas.

“A huge 'thank you' to everyone that has donated.”

Saturday also saw over £5,000 be raised for Movember via Dylan Hartley’s Front Mo Union kit sale, and Saints chief executive Allan Robson said that the club’s supporters had surpassed themselves with their charitable donations.

“This was the first time that we have held the Big Christmas Toy Collection and we didn’t quite know what to expect, but our supporters showed their charitable spirit with the sheer number of donations,” he said.

“We always try to support as many charities as we can, but November has surpassed anything that I can remember. Dylan’s Front Mo Union is leading the national Movember leaderboard with over £30,000 donated so far, and the thousands of pounds raised for the Royal British Legion at the start of the month will help servicemen and women and their families.

“The Travis Perkins Big Christmas Toy Collection is the icing on the cake really, and hopefully everything that has been donated will be enjoyed by a child in care or in need this Christmas.”

Supporters can still donate to the Big Christmas Toy Collection throughout this week by leaving their toy or gift at the Franklin’s Gardens main reception during office hours.
