Two Saints on Discovery of the Season shortlist

Paul Hill and Harry Mallinder have both been shortlisted for this season’s Land Rover Discovery of the Season award.

The award recognises the young players who have impressed during this season’s Aviva Premiership and is a reward for their outstanding contribution.

Also nominated alongside Hill and Mallinder are Jack Clifford (Harlequins), Maro Itoje (Saracens), Sam James (Sale Sharks) and Harry Thacker (Leicester Tigers).

Players must have been aged under-23 on Friday, October 16th 2015 and have played in a minimum of five Aviva Premiership fixtures this season in order to win the award.

The shortlist was chosen by a panel which consisted of David Flatman (Land Rover Ambassador), Tom Hamilton (EPSN Scrum.com), Nick Heath (ITV), Mike Hynard (Premiership Rugby Head of Academies and Development), Nick Purewal (Press Association), Alex Lowe (The Times) and Sonja McLaughlan (BBC). The chair of the panel was Paul Morgan (Premiership Rugby’s Communications Director).

The winner of the award will be announced on Wednesday, May 18th at the Aviva Premiership Rugby Awards, held at the London Hilton, Park Lane. The awards will be hosted by Craig Doyle.
