Tom Wood says that Saints need to regroup ahead of next season to make sure they are in contention for a top four finish in 2016/17.
Speaking to SaintsTV after his side’s win over Gloucester at Kingsholm on Saturday, Wood said: “It’s been a long old slog, really attritional.”
“We need to go back to the drawing board, correct a few things, and make sure that we can really come out firing. At least we’ve got the top four to fight for next season.”
It has been a long season for Wood and he is looking forward to having some time off before Saints’ pre-season training begins next month. “It’s good to now be able to have a break and have a summer off,” he said.
“I think back to the World Cup training camp starting this time last year, back in June, and I think it’s been non-stop since then.”
“It’s been a big ask this year. I’ve loved doing it and I enjoy it but I’m glad to get my feet up and hopefully get the body back in one piece.”
“I’ve got salmon fishing to do. I’ve got to cram that in before I go for a bit of surgery on my neck. I’ve got to get it sorted out so that I can hit the ground running next season.”
