Northampton Saints’ Community Team has regrettably been forced to postpone tomorrow’s Matchday Festival until later in the season.
The Club’s junior coaches conducted an extensive review of the weather forecast ahead of Saturday morning’s U12s Land Rover Cup.
Given the projected conditions and likelihood of frozen pitches, the difficult decision was not made lightly, but the safety of players is paramount under these circumstances.
The RFU were consulted on any possible variations of a shortened festival that could potentially be run if the pitches were to improve, but unfortunately this would not be possible whilst remaining within the RFU’s competition regulations.
Due to this postponement, the U12s festival will now take place on the weekend of 29 Feb 2020 (ahead of the Saints vs Saracens match).
There will be no minimum ticket requirement to enter this festival, and as a gesture of goodwill Saints will also issue each club due to participate with 10x complimentary tickets (1x adult and 9x junior) for this game as means of entry to the festival.
“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause – the decision was made with the utmost consideration of the players’ safety and wellbeing,” said Saints’ head of community Connor Fleming.
“We hope that you will enjoy the game Saints vs Tigers fixture tomorrow if you are joining us, and we thank you for your understanding.”
