cinch POTM April

Vote now for your cinch Player of the Month for April!

Voting for the cinch Player of the Month award for April is now open, with supporters able to choose the Saint they believe made the biggest contribution on the pitch throughout the month.

The competition will remain open until Thursday 14 May, when the winning player will be announced by Northampton Saints and cinch.

Throughout the season, cinch are also offering up a range of prizes for those who vote for the award, with one lucky supporter each month selected at random after voting closes. For April, one lucky winner will receive a Saints ball signed by the winner of this month’s award!

April began with high-scoring Investec Champions Cup clashes with Castres Olymique (49-41) and Bath Rugby (43-41), before returning to Gallagher PREM action with victories over Exeter Chiefs (28-35) and Bath Rugby (41-38).

With those clashes in mind, Saints’ coaches have selected four nominees for the monthly award: Ed Prowse, Tommy Freeman, Josh Kemeny and Fin Smith.

During the month, second row Prowse featured in all four games taking his appearance total for the 2025/26 campaign so far to 22 – exactly double his total for the previous season.  Across his two starts against Exeter Chiefs and Bath, he hit 49 rucks – more than any of his teammates – and also topped Saints’ tackle count with 20 at Sandy Park.

Freeman also featured in all four of Northampton’s fixtures in April, starting the Investec Champions Cup games against Castres Olympique and Bath Rugby – scoring a try against the former – before coming off the bench in the sensational away victory at Exeter Chiefs. He saved the best till last, running in a hat-trick of tries in the home league success against Bath Rugby. He was also Saints’ leading ball carrier (16) and second most prolific metre maker (134) in that win.

Australian flanker Kemeny started all four of Northampton’s games in April, and moved to an impressive 11 tries in 37 career appearances in Black, Green and Gold with efforts against Castres and Bath in the Investec Champions Cup knock-out stages. Kemeny made 62 tackles across the month, including a match-best 20 against Castres.

The final nominee in a month that has had no shortage of late drama is fly-half Smith, who passed the 700-point mark for the cub with 47 in April. The England international struck over a nerveless stoppage-time penalty to defeat Bath after also crossing for a try, a week after he bedazzled the Exeter Chiefs’ defence with some fine support play and step to win the gripping contest at Sandy Park. Smith also made 39 successful tackles across the month  – including an epic 19 against Exeter Chiefs – and also made 116 metres from 42 carries in April.
