The visitors proved a stubborn nut to crack and scored first, though as the half wore on the direction of the game was all too clear and having responded before half-time, three second half scores in 11 minutes ensured the Wandies’ dominance paid.
It was an early fumble that saw the Jets’ Tom Sanders driven over after just 58 seconds, but the visitors were lucky to keep a full contingent when George Hynes was only shown yellow, despite appearing to strike Joel Hodgson twice on the ground.
Having offended at the first couple of scrums, the Wanderers started to take a grip of the set piece and penalties in quick succession allowed Will Hooley to get his side on the board from the tee.
The fly half would go to the corner with his next penalty and the forwards stepped up again, mauling Ross McMillan over as the Jets’ misdemeanours continued to rack up.
The hosts remained firmly on top and while Sale would see it out until half-time it would prove only temporary respite.
Alex Woolford’s midfield steal was followed by an excellent offload for the onrushing Hodgson and the scrum-half flew beneath the uprights to extend the gap.
Harry Mallinder was next to break through for number three and eight minutes later skipper Ben Nutley followed suit to add the bonus try with a 30-metre run in.
The Wanderers went close again, Sam Olver’s delicate kick through almost falling on a plate for Rory Hutchinson but they wouldn’t have to wait long for number five to come along.
Another maul did the damage, Lewis Ludlum emerging from the pile of bodies with the ball in his grasp and Hutchinson would have his score five minutes from time on the end of a lovely floated pass from Hooley.
