REPORTS TO: Head of Athletic Performance
LOCATION: cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens, Northampton, NN5 5BG
REMIT:
This is an exciting opportunity for a Strength and Conditioning Coach to join an experienced department and work in tandem with a motivated, driven playing group and coaches.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core
- Work closely with Strength & Conditioning Coaches, Rugby Coaches and Medics to plan and implement individualised programmes that prepare the athletes for an agreed set of performance goals.
- Detailed planning of day-day management of specific athletes alongside comprehensive rehab plans for injured athletes.
- Carry out testing and monitoring procedures to evaluate an athletes physical abilities.
- Provide feedback to athletes on their progress and performace and adjust training plans as required.
- Development and delivery of return-to-play strategies for injured players.
- To travel with team as is required and whilst doing so, to contribute towards the collective effort preparing the team for competition.
- Incorporate and deliver appropriate warm ups for all sessions.
- Assist with preparation and education of nutritional strategies in order to maximise performance.
CPD & Development
- Stay up to date with current best practice. Look for opportunities to conduct novel research with performance impact outcome for Northampton Saints.
- To contribute to weekly planning of training.
- To contribute to Student supervision within the department as is required.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
Essential Skills:
- BSc (Hons) Sports Science (or related field)
- Strong knowledge of exercise physiology, biomechanics and nutrition.
- Current and valid driving licence
- Experience of working in as a Strength & Conditioning Coach
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- A strong desire to learn and develop your own practice
- The successful applicant will be required to complete an enhanced disclosure check
Desirable Skills:
- Previous experience working with rugby players
- Experience of rehabilitating athletes in a professional sports environment
- Strong use of IT (Excel, Powerpoint, etc)
SALARY:
Competitive – dependant on experience.
