Transition Group Physiotherapist

DEPARTMENT: Medical Department
REPORTS TO: Head of Medical
LOCATION: cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens, Northampton, NN5 5BG

REMIT:
This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified physiotherapist to join an elite sporting environment to lead the injury management, rehabilitation provision and performance enhancement of Transition players in the Senior squad.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core 

  • Lead on Assessment, diagnosis and treatment of acute injuries of Transition group players.  
  • Detailed planning of day-day maintenance management of all Transition group players alongside comprehensive rehab plans for injured players.  
  • To contribute to assessment, diagnosis and treatment of senior squad players as is required.  
  • Active contribution to the development and delivery of return-to-play strategies for injured players.  
  • To provide matchday medical cover pitchside as is required.  
  • To provide medical cover in all training situations as is required.  
  • Appropriate organisation of medical equipment for training and matchday. 
  • To travel with team as is required and whilst doing so, to contribute towards the collective effort preparing the team for competition. 
  • Detailed and timely communication & collaboration with all members of the Performance and coaching group regarding the management of playing staff. 
  • Consistent communication with external medical teams to ensure continuity of management for Saints players out on loan. 
  • Provide day-day support to other members of the medical team regarding injury/rehabilitation matters.  
  • Contribute fully to department housekeeping.  
  • Maintenance of accurate medical records in accordance with CSP & HCPC regulations. 
  • To work with the Lead Academy Physiotherapist to deliver detailed and thorough integration of Transition group players from Junior to Senior Academy and into Full-time environment.  

CPD & Development  

  • Assist with and contribute to in-house CPD, stay up to date with current best practice. Look for opportunities to conduct novel research with performance impact outcome for Northampton Saints.  
  • To contribute to weekly planning meeting for medical staff.  
  • To contribute to Student supervision within the department as is required.  
  • To contribute to regular in-house pitchside medical management & extrication training. 
  • Maintain own PhICIS qualification.  

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Essential Skills:

  • BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy (or equivalent).
  • Registration with HCPC/CSP.
  • PHICIS level 3 or equivalent qualification.
  • The successful applicant will be required to complete an enhanced disclosure check.
  • Current and valid driving licence.
  • Experience of managing injuries in a sporting context.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • A strong desire to learn and develop your own practice.

Desirable Skills:

  • Have attained or are working towards post-graduate qualifications in either Physiotherapy, Sports Medicine, Strength & Conditioning, or a related field.
  • Experience of rehabilitating athletes in a professional sports environment.
