Northampton Saints vs Exeter Chiefs

Furbank sends the ball wide of the posts though and we've just enough time for a 22 drop out to restart. 

Overthrow at the lineout and Chiefs dive on the loose ball. But Saints defend hard again and earn the penalty as Chiefs come into the ruck at the side. Furbank points to the posts.

Another huge shove and it's another penalty for Saints at the scrum! Furbank puts it into touch for a lineout on Chiefs' 22. 

Smith take a hit in the build up to the knock on and is replaced by R Smith as we set the scrum. 

Saints defend hard again and push Chiefs back to the halfway line. Chiefs keep coming but there's a forward pass and Saints will have the scrum. 

Chiefs manage to strip the ball in a tackle though and push themselves. 

Salakaia-Loto is up for the restart again and Mitchell dinks it over the top. Becconsall is there but he struggles to control the ball and Saints have time to push up in defence. Maunder boxes high and Skosan is under it. Saints play on.

Moon is up for the lineout and Saints maul forwards now.

Eventually we come back for the penalty and Smith puts it into the corner. 

Overthrow from Saints but it's collected by Dingwall and Saints play on in Chief's 22 now with a penalty advantage coming too.

Salakaia-Loto is up for the restart and Mitchell boxes high off the back of it. Saints defend hard on halfway and get their rewards in a penalty at the ruck. Smith puts it into the corner.

Freeman charges down Maunders clearing kick on the restart and  though Becconsall is there, Freeman gets over the ball there to earn Saints the penalty. Smith points to the posts.

Chiefs steal the lineout though and Maunder clears. Freeman is under it and Saints play on. 

Furbank comes forwards from the restart and Saints have the penalty too as Chiefs are found offside. Smith puts it into touch for a lineout in Chiefs' 22. 

Hutchinson is replaced by Proctor as we restart.

No conversion from Simmonds out wide.

Chiefs intercept the lineout and push from close range now. 

Free kick Chiefs at the scrum and they go quickly. They push but Saints' defence holds firm and Simmonds puts the ball on his boot. It bobbles into touch for a Saints lineout inside their own 22. 

Chiefs maul forwards from the resulting lineout but strong Saints defence pushes them back. Saints get their rewards when the ball comes loose but it's deemed to have come off Haywood's hand in the tackle. Scrum Chiefs on halfway.

Mitchell boxes high off the restart and Saints chase it. Chiefs get there but Saints' defence forces the away side to send the ball skyward and Skosan is under it again. 

Iyogun and Painter are replaced by Waller and Hill as we restart.

Saints turn the ball over on the restart and get it wide but there's a knock on out there before the final pass. Scrum Chiefs.

James is replaced by Mitchell as we restart – with the latter making his 100th appearance for the Club in the process!

Exeter maul forwards quickly but Saints halt them and earn the put in at the scrum. 

Saints get over the ball there but they're pinged for not rolling away. Simmonds puts it into touch for a lineout on Saints' 22.

Salakaia-Loto rises highest for the kick-off and James bocces high. Becconsall is under it and Chiefs play on on halfway.

Advantage coming for Saints from a high tackle as they push into Chiefs' half but eventually we come back for it. Smith puts it into touch for a lineout on Chiefs' 22. 

Scrappy handling from Chiefs of the scrum and Dingwall boots it clear. Chiefs manage to gather in their own 22 and Maunder boxes high. Skosan is under it and Saints play on.

Saints push Chiefs back into their own half with some strong defence and Maunder sends it high again. Furbank is there and Saints come forwards but there's a knock on in contact and the referee deems it to have come off Saints first. Scrum Chiefs.

Furbank clears downfield and Maunder is there. Saints press hard in defence and halt Chiefs' return on the halfway line. Maunder sends it high and Chiefs manage to regather. They play on around Saints' ten metre line.

Saints return the restart to Chiefs but they can't quite gather the ball cleanly. Maunder eventually clears and Skosan is under it. Saints play on. 

Furbank replaces Sleightholme as the winger heads off for a HIA.

James sends it downfield and Dingwall, Freeman and Sleightholme are in chase. John gets there first but Sleightholme is over it to earn Saints the penalty. 

After a few reset eventually the free kick goes Chiefs' way and Simmonds sends it high. James returns it and Chiefs gather. Maunder boxes high and Saints play on.

Scott-Young is up for the lineout and Saints come forwards but the ball is knocked on as it heads left. Scrum Chiefs just outside their own 22.

Penalty Saints at the maul as it comes down illegally and Smith puts it into touch again for another lineout on Chiefs' 22 this time.

Strong defence from Saints though and they get their reward at Graham gets over the ball to earn them the penalty. Smith puts it into touch for a lineout.

Chiefs push forwards quickly through Sio and make it up to Saints' 22 now.

No try says the TMO as Sleightholme just knocks the ball forwards on the floor before Dingwall scoops it up. Scrum Chiefs on their own five metre line. 

Saints think they're over through the skipper Dingwall but we're with the TMO to check a potential knock on in the build up.

James sends the ball Chiefs way on the restart and Hodge breaks Saints' line. But James takes the fullback down and halts Exeter's attack. Dingwall puts in a big hit and forces the knock on from Chiefs. Saints regather the ball and clear downfield. Simmonds returns it to touch and Saints will have the lineout on halfway. 

Saints come forwards off the lineout and when James chips over the top, Chiefs are found offside. Smith points to the posts with the resulting penalty. 

Eventually Saints come off the better for it as Maunder's chip heads straight out. Lineout Saints on halfway now.

Simmonds chips over the top from the back of the scrum and Saints return it. Maunder boxes the ball high and James does the same. Hodge marks James kick though and aerial tennis ensues again.

Maunder boxes from the restart and Freeman is under it. But he loses the ball forwards in the contest for the high ball and Chiefs have the scrum on halfway.

Chiefs push from close range off the lineout but Saints defend hard and hold them out for now.

Saints come forwards but Chiefs manage to counter ruck and clear. Saints clear themselves but the ball heads over the deadball line and we come back for a Chiefs scrum.

James sends it high again and Hodge is under it. He sends it high myself and Freeman is there. More aerial tennis ensues and eventually Chiefs end the deadlock, with Simmonds sending the ball into touch. Lineout Saints on Exeter's 22.

Knock on Exeter at the lineout though and James clears downfield. John gets under it though and Chiefs play on before Maunder clears. Saints play on.
